Why do we need an excuse to make loud noises and sparkles? Fireworks, noisemakers, sparklers, call them what you want to, with the bang-bang tradition goes way back, and now it is practiced all over the globe.
The funny thing is, in most ancient cultures, our ancestors used to bang drums, light fire, and even beat the walls to drive away spooky spirits and evil creatures. We have to thank the Chinese for the fireworks, as they were the pioneers.

This huge street party runs from 8 pm to 12:30 am on December 31 and will keep you entertained well into the first hours of the new year. Virginia Key Outdoor Center. If you’re looking for something laid-back and unique for your New Year’s Eve in Miami, look no further than the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Paddle and Dinner at the beautiful Virginia Key Outdoor Center, located on Virginia Key between the mainland and Key Biscayne. The evening will begin at 7 pm with music, food, and drinks. At 10:30 pm, you’ll kayak or paddleboard out into Biscayne Bay with fellow revelers. Expect to see fireworks in all directions, including Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, and Fisher Island. (Note that the route is sheltered and away from boat traffic and that guests who don’t want to paddle can still participate and watch the fireworks from the shore.) Yacht parties. The fireworks can also be witnessed from the luxurious yacht. Other than the South Beach, The Musette Yacht also hosts parties on the last night of the year to welcome the new year.
