February in Miami!

The restrictions are undeniable! We have to mask-up, keep our distance, limit our activities and respect other measures. That’s our new normalcy!

Miami still has a lot to offer for all of those suffering from FOMO syndrome. We get you! But, at any rate, our beautiful beaches are still out there, and it is easier to keep distance, and be safe in the outdoors. Many museums and galleries are offering virtual tours and events for all of those missing some indoor action. Want to check them out? Here are just of a few:

Fountainhead Residency is offering virtual studio visits, artist talks, and artists open online. To see events and schedules, check out their Instagram page.
Frost Art FIU has virtual tours of three of their exhibitions, along with video montages of current exhibitions and a look behind the scenes with Museum staff. To see what they are offering, click here https://frost.fiu.edu/ICA Miami in the Design District has plenty to offer online, including musical performances, poetry readings, and talks with curators. Life Is Art is on a mission to create the largest online gallery of works by South Florida artists, adding new ones to view on a regular basis. They’re also hosting weekly virtual artist studio visits on Thursdays during the virtual Venture Cafe Miami events. To make reservations and learn more, click here https://icamiami.org/.

What else is going on?

Our sunshine state is the star of the NFL again! Not only is Tampa bay hosting this exhilarating event during a worldwide pandemic, but for the first time in history, one of the title contenders is playing home! As the Buccaneers, led by veteran Tom Brady face the Kansas City Chiefs.

The big game takes over Hard Rock Stadium this winter, and unless you’re willing to fork over thousands of dollars to experience the NFL extravaganza live, you’ll be looking for a place to watch the Super Bowl in Miami come February 2. What’s not to like about the event? The game, the awesome commercials, and the half-time show are worth it! Miami will play the game virtually in every bar around town.
Another one of our favorite choices for this February is the Free outdoor movies at Miami Beach! The SoundScape Cinema Series screens free films on a 7,000-square-foot outdoor projection wall at the New World Center every week. Bring your blanket, your picnic basket, and get ready to experience something unique. Here’s the upcoming schedule.

February
· February 3 – “A Ballerina’s Tale.”
· February 10 – “Harriett.”
· February 17 – “The Harlem Hellfighters Great War.”
· February 24 – “Lion King” (2019 live-action)

This can be your go-to option if you haven’t anything planned for St. Valentine’s. It doesn’t matter if it’s not on the exact day; bring your loved one to romantically enjoy a movie under the stars!

Lastly, for those terribly missing the community bike rides, check out the City of North Miami’s monthly Get in Gear event. Register here https://www.northmiamifl.gov/Calendar.aspx?EID=1162&month=1&year=2021&day=7&calType=0

The free rides take place every second Saturday of the month.
Please note: Face masks will be required, and social distancing guidelines will be enforced, according to organizers.
Get ready for another artistic, fun, sporty, vibrant month in the best city in the world. And don’t forget to mask up!
